Steve Wolbrecht started studying the piano at the young age of 4, and after determining that it wouldn't bite him, he sat down and played.
His mother Susan oversaw his instruction in music through high school. Steve attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington and graduated in 1999 with a degree in Mathematics. There he continued his musical training, studying jazz piano, classical composition, and private voice as well as singing with PLU's Choir of the West. Steve also acted in a movie, played way too much pinochle, and spent as much time as possible serving as a math tutor.
After graduation and before trekking into the "real world", Steve volunteered for six weeks at Holden Village, an ecumenical retreat center nestled in the North Cascades. Holden Village greatly influenced Steve's childhood and upbringing. Wanting to give back, Steve chose to stay the entire year working as the teaching assistant for the three-room school house. And as it turned out, he had the wonderful opportunity to teach calculus to one of the high school students that year.
Steve returned home to Redmond Washington in June of 2000 and soon moved to Tacoma to be closer to his friends and siblings. He picked up two part-time tutoring jobs and worked those for six months before being invited to work for Honeywell where he continues to work. Steve continues to write and perform music. He has composed for worship services and weddings, as well as TV and radio commercials. He has scored two movies - one feature-length and one short - and is currently working on his third movie score. Steve regularly volunteers to play for PLU's Holden Evening Prayer and Prayer Around the Cross services, and he adds his musical talent to the improv comedy troupe he's been a part of for three years.
Steve resides in Tacoma, Washington.
